American Dirt is one of the most popular novels which has been vehemently criticized. This novel centers upon the story of a Mexican mother and her son’s journey to a border when her rest of the family is murdered. Throughout the story, one can notice the stances of graphic violence, a series of pitiful experiences faced by the Mexican immigrants. According to Panuco-Mercado (2020), the most frustrating part of the American dirt debate oozes from the Chicano narratives. It is not only the machine which is supported by the book is of dystopian nature, the violence and tortures which the people tolerate while crossing the border.
